Another News Chain Files for Chapter 11

AUGUSTA, Ga. (CN) - Morris Publishing Group, owner of 13 daily newspapers, including the Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville, the Augusta Chronicle and the Savannah Morning News has filed for bankruptcy, listing more than $279 million in debts. The privately owned company, which also owns 60 nondaily periodicals, is the latest victim of the recession and the general devastation of the newspaper industry.
