MANHATTAN (CN) - Efrain Gonzalez, a former state senator from the Bronx, pleaded guilty to federal fraud charges on Friday. Gonzalez arranged for a supposed nonprofit group, the West Bronx Neighborhood Association, to use state and federal money to pay "more than $500,000 worth of his personal credit card and other bills," prosecutors said.
Gonzalez, 60, faces up to 50 years in prison at his Aug. 7 sentencing.
