Animal cruelty

LIMA, Ohio — An appeals court in Ohio upheld the dismissal of 14 misdemeanor charges — including several counts of cruelty to companion animals — against a man who allegedly promised to train a couple’s dog but then secretly had it euthanized. The charges were time-barred. An investigation discovered that Steffan Baldwin, who reportedly wanted to be a star on the Animal Planet network, was linked to the euthanization of 18 dogs.

The man is also facing several felony charges.
