CHICAGO (CN) - Alltel Wireless defrauds customers by charging them for "premium" text message services they do not want, and charging again for each text message that Alltel itself or its associates sends them, according to a class-action complaint in Cook County Chancery Court.
This complaint is one in a string of similar class-actions that claim mobile phone companies, billing aggregators and content providers are exploiting "a disastrous flaw" in the cell-phone industry that "is an open secret within the industry, but little understood outside it."
