MANHATTAN (CN) - Four men accused of plotting terrorist attacks on U.S. military planes and a Bronx synagogue were indicted on federal charges. Prosecutors say James Cromitie aka Abdul Rahman photographed "several synagogues and Jewish community centers" on April 10 as potential bomb targets.
An undercover FBI agent discussed the details of two planned attacks with Cromite and his accomplice David Williams aka Daoud, on April 23, prosecutors say.
The men allegedly plotted with Onto Williams aka Hamza and Laguerre Payen aka Amin aka Almondo to use a "surface-to-air guided missile system to destroy military aircraft located at the Air National Guard Base" and wanted to plant "an IED containing over 30 pounds of C-4 military grade plastic explosive material" at Riverdale Temple.
They were arrested on May 20.
The explosives qualify as weapons of mass destruction, according to the eight-count indictment. Each count is punishable by up to life in prison.
