Alcoa Made Bad F-22 Parts, Boeing Says

SEATTLE (CN) - Alcoa supplied "defective flight safety critical parts" for F-22 fighter jets made for the U.S. Air Force, Boeing claims in Federal Court. Boeing says Alcoa, its subcontractor, failed to properly heat treat "forward boom frame forgings," to "retard crack growth and improve damage tolerance". Boeing says it rejected the parts and had to do extra work for the Air Force for free to resolve the problem.
