Air Pollution

WASHINGTON (CN) - Ten years was not enough. Ten states and three territories missed the deadline to submit plans for decreasing air pollutants to the EPA.

The failures trigger a two year deadline for the EPA to fill in missing parts of a state's plan to meet the 1997 National Ambient Air Quality Standards for ozone, carbon monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, sulfur dioxide, particulate matter and lead. If all or part of a plan is complete the EPA must take action to enforce those parts within 12 months. Click here for details and other new regulations and notices.
