Agency Wants Tuna|Harpoon Comments

WASHINGTON (CN) - The National Marine Fisheries Service is requesting public comment on more thoroughly using available U.S. bluefin tuna quota, particularly in the General and Harpoon fishing categories.

Comments will be accepted until March 31.

The intent of the agency's rule is to increase the Atlantic bluefin tuna General category maximum daily retention limit, allow the General category season to remain open until the January subquota is reached, and increase the Harpoon category daily incidental retention limit.
