Agency Makes College|Readiness More Accessible

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Department of Education has issued new and amended regulations for programs assisting migrant workers' children, low-income individuals, first-generation college students, and individuals with disabilities.

The rules implement provisions of the Higher Education Act as amended by the Higher Education Opportunity Act that relate to the High School Equivalency Program and College Assistance Migrant Program, the Federal TRIO programs, and the Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate program.

The regulations are put into place by the Secretary of the Office of Postsecondary Education and Office of Elementary and Secondary Education.
