Agency Has Plans for|Fossil Fuel-Free Buildings

WASHINGTON (CN) - By 2030, all new federal buildings must operate without fossil fuel generated energy, under new standards proposed by the U.S. Department of Energy.

The reduction for new construction and major remodeling are to be staggered and begin with a 65 percent reduction in fossil fuel-generated energy consumption in fiscal year 2015, 80 percent beginning in fiscal year 2020, and 90 percent beginning in fiscal year 2025.
