COLUMBUS, Ohio (CN) - Abercrombie & Fitch claims Beyonce Knowles's new "Sasha Fierce" perfume infringes on its line of "Fierce" fragrances in a lawsuit filed a day after the pop star announced she had signed a deal to launch the perfume in early 2010.
A&F says in its federal lawsuit that it first registered the Fierce trademark in 2002, and has since earned at least $190 million in sales of its fragrances.
Knowles filed a series of trademark applications for the Sasha Fierce mark soon after releasing her album, "I am... Sasha Fierce" in November 2008, the lawsuit states.
The clothing company says it sent the pop star a cease and desist letter, but Knowles "disputed the likelihood of confusion" and refused to stop using the name, the lawsuit states.
A&F is represented by Marion Little of Zeiger Tigges.
