Adult & Little Girl Say Ad Firm Defamed Them

MANHATTAN (CN) - A woman and a 7-year-old girl, both professional models, claim an advertising firm and the Office of National Drug Control Policy defamed them by using a photo of the little girl, who is missing some teeth, as is normal at that age, in a poster about "meth mouth" - "a result of child abuse or neglect."

In their federal claim, the Child Model and Adult Model claim "that a medical condition commonly known as 'meth mouth' is evidence by the loss of front teeth owing to the use of methamphetamine. That the image of plaintiff child used by defendants highlights her lack of front teeth and would be reasonable construed by those with a knowledge of methamphetamine abuse as a photograph accurately depicting the malady known as 'meth mouth' or in the alternative as set forth herein, a result of child abuse or neglect."

The two models are represented by Edward Greenberg.

Here are the defendants: DraftFCB; The Interpublic Group of Cos. Inc.; Office of National Drug Control Policy; American Society of Addiction Medicine; Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America; National Association of Addiction Treatment Providers; NAADAC; Association for Addiction Professionals; National Association of Counties; National Association of Social Workers; National Conference of State Legislatures; National Drug Enforcement Officers Association; National Narcotics Officers' Association Coalition; The Partnership for a Drug-Free America; Substance Abuse & Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA); and the State Associations of Addiction Services.
