Actress Accused of|Drunk Driving Fatality

TRENTON, N.J. (CN) - A man claims actress Amy Locane killed his wife and seriously injured him while driving drunk. He claims the former "Melrose Place" actress was fleeing from a previous accident she caused, and that she was "swerving, driving erratically, speeding and struck mailboxes that existed along the roadways" before the fatal crash.

Fred Seeman and his son Curtis sued Locane for the wrongful death of their wife and mother, Helene Seeman, in Federal Court. They also sued her husband, Mark Bovenizer, who is the owner of the car, according to the complaint.

The Seemans say Locane was speeding before the June 27 fatal crash, and that she "was intoxicated and under the influence of alcohol far in excess of the legal limit".

They say Locane drank to intoxication at "social events" before the crash, accompanied by her husband, who allowed her to drive his car drunk. He left in another car, the complaint states.

While driving, and speeding, drunk, Locane rear-ended another car "and fled the scene," the complaint states. After the hit and run, "defendant, Amy Locane, was swerving, driving erratically, speeding, and struck mailboxes that existed along the roadways," the complaint states.

The Seemans say the fatal accident that ensued was "solely and wholly as a result of the negligence, carelessness, recklessness, grossly negligent and wanton conduct o defendants, Amy Locane and Mark C. Bovenizer".

Locane became well-known after appearing in the John Water's 1992 film, "Cry-Baby" and then for her part in the TV show "Melrose Place."

The Seemans seek punitive damages. Locane was indicted one week ago on criminal charges of assault by auto and aggravated manslaughter, according to press reports.
