BROOKLYN (CN) - A man accused of murdering five U.S. soldiers in Iraq appeared in Federal Court on Saturday after being extradited from Canada.
Faruq Khalil Muhammad 'Isa, aka Sayfildin Tahir Sharif, aka Tahir Sharif Sayfildin is accused of conspiring with terrorists in an April 20, 2009 truck bombing that killed five American soldiers in Mosul, Iraq.
They were Staff Sgt. Gary Woods, 24, of Lebanon Junction, Ky.; Sgt. First Class Bryan Hall, 32, of Elk Grove, Calif.; Sgt. Edward Forrest Jr., 25, of St. Louis; Cpl. Jason Pautsch, 20, of Davenport, Iowa; and PFC Bryce Gaultier, 22, of Cyprus, Calif.
The 9-page grand jury indictment accused Isa of five murders, conspiracy and providing material support to a terrorist conspiracy to kill Americans abroad.
