Abusive Telemarketer Fined $450,000

ST. LOUIS (CN) - The Police Protective Fund will pay $450,000 for abusive telemarketing. The group took more than $5.9 million, supposedly for families of police officers killed in the line of duty, but doled out only $37,000 to the families, state prosecutors said.

Attorney General Jeremiah Nixon said the telemarketers used rude and intimidating tactics to get the donations. St. Louis City Circuit Judge Edward Sweeney approved the judgment.
