A Red Carpet to Sue For

LOS ANGELES (CN) - A company hired for the red-carpet premieres of "The Giver" movie and the "Sin City" sequel says in court that Weinstein Co. skipped out on the bill.

Live Media Group sued Weinstein Company in Superior Court on Tuesday for breach of contract, alleging that it is owed $463,516.

It claims to have entered into a July 2014 agreement with Weinstein for services related to the premiere in New York of Phillip Noyce's sci-fi drama "The Giver," starring Brenton Thwaites, Jeff Bridges and Meryl Streep.

Live Media says Weinstein "received and approved" its invoices but remitted any of the $137,641 billed for the event.

Live Media also allegedly worked on the Los Angeles premiere of Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller's "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For," starring Mickey Rourke, Jessica Alba and Josh Brolin.

It claims to have billed Weinstein $94,617 for services related to that event, but that the production company never paid for those services either.

Live Media also seeks an additional $232,258 for work and services performed for the production company over the last four years.

It is represented by Michael Abrams of Wolf Group.

Editor's Note: In a statement Thursday, the plaintiff announced that its complaint "against The Weinstein Company has been addressed and resolved."

"LMG is in the process of dismissing the complaint," its CEO Brad Sexton said. "The Weinstein Co. is a longtime partner of LMG and we look forward to working together on future projects."
