A Really Bad Day for|San Diego Bank Robber

SAN DIEGO (CN) - Nothing went right for 24-year-old Tulio David Gasca the day he decided to rob a bank.

Gasca was sentenced Monday to 55 months in prison for robbing the North Island Credit Union in Imperial Beach on March 5 this year.

Wearing a mask, he told a tell, "Give me your money!" and ran, $4,210 the richer - for a while, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement after he was sentenced.

An off-duty jailer chased him into an apartment complex across the street, but lost him. With a police dog on his trail, a sheriff's helicopter spotted him, but Gasca resisted and injured a deputy who tried to Taser him.

Forty-four minutes after he robbed the bank, sheriff's officers found him hiding in a back yard and arrested him - but the money was gone.

The next day, however, the woman whose back yard it was found $3,682 on a shelf in her back yard - and an email addressed to Gasca.

Sic transit gloria mundi.
