A.G. Sets Procedures for Tribes to Request Help

WASHINGTON (CN) - The Office of the Attorney General has established the procedures for an Indian tribe whose Indian country is subject to state criminal jurisdiction to request that the United States accept concurrent criminal jurisdiction within the tribe's Indian country. The procedures also include how the Attorney General is to decide whether to consent to the request.

The new procedures are effective Jan. 5.
