A dangerous man named Kennedy

April 26, 2024

Few people outside of Russia can compete with Donald Trump when it comes to being a god in his own mind: narcissistic, venomous, delusional — but Bobby Kennedy Jr. comes close.

Robert Kahn

Deputy editor emeritus, Courthouse News

Kennedy, like Trump, is a self-proclaimed expert on things he knows nothing about: grasping, sordid, vain, arrogant, jealous, insolent, untruthful, indecent, shallow and selfish.

Here are just a few of his delusions, and proclamations, with links to sources:

Anti-depressant selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors such as Prozac cause school shootings;

Vaccines cause autism;

The Covid-19 virus was “ethnically targeted” (and presumably created) “to attack Caucasians and Black people. The people who are most immune are Ashkenazi Jews and Chinese”;

He has repeatedly lied about his unfounded, dangerous lies about vaccines;

He claims that Americans today are worse off than Anne Frank was under the Nazis;

Former Centers for Disease Control director Dr. Anthony Fauci carried out a “coup d’état” against Western democracy”;

AIDS is not caused by the HIV virus;

He disdains “elites” — as though he were not born to the purple, and has an income from multiple sources, including inheritances, of $8 million a year;

He’s never been to jail, though he acknowledges he was addicted to heroin for 14 years;

(anything elite about pulling that off, Bobby?);

His “running mate,” Nicole Shanahan, won her multibillion-dollar fortune by divorcing Google co-founder Sergey Brin, allegedly after she’d had an affair with Elon Musk;

Bobby says we can’t trust the “liberal media,” such as The New York Times or Washington Post, but we can trust Elon Musk;

So, I guess there’s no “elites” in Bobby’s campaign. Unless it was Anne Frank. She had it so good. So much better than we do.

Bobby Kennedy Jr., like Donny Trump, is a spoiled brat. Two aged babies with grubby hands trying to put their signatures on the Tower of Babel, and claiming that they built it all by themselves.

And when it tumbles down on other people’s heads? Somebody else did it. The liberals did it.

Did we actually live in a society that Bobby Jr. and Donny Schlumpf claim to live in, most of us by now would have been dragged out of our houses and shot. Them too.

But we do not live in the world that they imagine and lie about. We live in the real world. We can’t afford to live in their worlds.

Yet the root of our political insanity today does not lie totally upon these venomous, ethically crippled, entitled, little slavering, aging babies; it lies upon us, the 161 million U.S. citizens who are registered to vote. And with the 80 million of us who could, but do not bother to register, and millions more who do register but don’t vote.

How could so many tens of millions of us fall for these con men — peddlers of lies, poison and propaganda — after our country provided us, if we wanted it, 12 years of public education?

This I do not understand. We need Henry Louis Mencken to explain it.

Mencken said he did not take politics seriously, but viewed it with delight, as “the ribald combats of demagogues, the exquisitely ingenious operations of master rogues, the pursuit of witches and heretics, the desperate struggles of inferior men to claw their way into Heaven.”

One hundred years ago, Mencken called U.S. politics “an Eden of clowns.” The chicaneries and blatant frauds perpetrated upon the nation by politicos of Mencken’s days compare to the bullshit they foist upon us today as, to borrow a phrase from Mr. Mencken, as “a wart to the Matterhorn.”

Why do we keep falling for mini-men, again and again?

Why do Americans fall in love with spoiled brats?

Envy and stupidity, I s’pose.

What’s clear is that Bobby Jr. is trying to destroy the Democratic Party.

But why?

Ego.

Freud was right: Little Bobby wants to kill his parents and screw them. Just like his heroes, little Donny Trump, and Oedipus.

But little Bobby and Donny don’t need to pluck their eyes out, like Oedipus did. They were blind from Jump Street.

Here are the sources from which I gleaned some of the information, and all of the links in this article, in order: Business Insider, Forbes magazine, the Annenberg Public Policy Center at the University of Pennsylvania, New York Spectrum News, the New York Post, PBS News Hour, Beyond the Noise substack, the U.S. House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government (July 20, 2023), The Associated Press, National Public Radio, The New Yorker, Market Watch, The New York Times, H.L Mencken.

See any “liberal media” there? OK, maybe NPR, The New Yorker and the NYTimes. But Forbes? Business Insider? A U.S. House Select Subcommittee under Republican control? Market Watch?

I gotta lie down.
