A cup’s not a cup?

MANHATTAN — A federal court in New York dismissed a putative class action against Sunbeam Products, whose customer says its six-cup rice cooker was misleading labeled, as she understood the word “cup” to mean a standard sized cup; the “cup” Sunbeam was using was smaller than standard. The product listing was not “materially misleading as a matter of law,” not least of all because its 5.33-ounce cup size has a basis in Japanese cuisine.
