8th Circuit

INSURANCE - Relying on a suicide-exclusion clause, Standard Insurance Company reduced the death benefits paid to Hamilton under a group insurance policy that covered her deceased husband, who killed himself. Hamilton argued that a Missouri law barring suicide defenses for insurance policies should apply. The 8th Circuit found that the statute barring suicide defenses did not apply, because the policy was issued to a non-Missouri citizen in Idaho.
