6 Years in Prison|for Credit-Card Fraud

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas (CN) - A Texan who pleaded guilty to making and using counterfeit credit cards was sentenced to 70 months in federal prison, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.

Steven Clark, 37, pleaded guilty to credit card fraud on Dec. 11, federal prosecutors said in a statement.

"Clark also acknowledged that at the time of his arrest, he was in possession of 248 stolen credit card slips bearing the numbers and personal information of the legitimate account holders, which were part of a batch of approximately 500 credit card slips stolen from a hotel in the San Antonio area," prosecutors said.

Clark, of Corpus Christi, was part of a ring that used the stolen credit slips to create counterfeit credit cards.

Robert Isbell, 40, was sentenced to 27 months in federal prison, and Deborah Billings, 47, both of Corpus Christi, was sentenced to 30 months, prosecutors said.

Clark also was ordered to pay $3,606 in restitution.
