50 Cent Charged With Domestic Violence

LOS ANGELES (CN) - Rapper 50 Cent was criminally charged with domestic violence and vandalism for attacking his girlfriend, the L.A. City Attorney's Office said.

Curtis Jackson, 37, is accused of injuring his ex-girlfriend at her Toluca Lake condo on June 23 and causing $7,100 worth of damages, City Attorney Mike Feuer said in a statement.

Jackson faces five criminal counts: one of domestic violence and four for vandalism, Feuer said.

The unidentified woman had a child with Jackson, and was with him for 3, according to the city attorney.

If convicted of all charges, Jackson faces a fine of $46,000 and up to five years in jail.

Jackson destroyed woman's property during an argument, Feuer said in the statement, which added: "Allegedly when the female locked herself in her bedroom, Jackson kicked open the bedroom door and kicked her, causing an injury. An estimated $7,100 in property was allegedly damaged by Jackson during their argument. Responding officers observed broken chandeliers and broken furniture throughout the female's condo. Officers also observed a ransacked bedroom closet with the female's clothes thrown all over the floor as well as a broken television and lamp. Jackson departed the scene prior to officers arriving."Jackson is scheduled for a July 22 arraignment at Van Nuys Superior Court.
