$41,000 wrongly seized

HOUSTON — A Texas appeals court ruled that the trial court should not have seized $41,000 found in a search of the car belonging to someone suspected of intending to buy controlled substances. The two deputies had probable cause to stop the car for following a truck too closely, and their canine did catch the scent of contraband, but they did not find any actual substances or related items in the car or on the driver’s person.
