CHICAGO (CN) - A jury awarded a $40 million civil verdict against a woman who killed the pregnant girlfriend of a former Chicago Bears player. The woman, who is serving a life sentence, is not likely to pay.
A Cook County jury returned the verdict against Marni Yang, 43, of suburban Deerfield, who is serving a life term for the 2007 murder of Rhoni Reuter and her unborn child. Prosecutors said Yang viewed Reuter as a competitor for former Bear Shaun Gayle's affection, and carefully plotted Reuter's execution.
