CHICAGO (CN) - Cassetica Software claims 3M Co. swiped its "NotesMedic" software by misrepresenting itself as a "home user," then downloading, copying and distributing the program to its subsidiaries to weasel out of licensing fees.
Cassetica says it wrote the NotesMedic program to be used with Lotus Notes, and to deal with that program's alleged problem with repeated system crashes. Cassetica says NotesMedic, which it sells for $9,999, is its most valuable corporate asset.
Cassetica filed a similar complaint against Computer Science Corp., in the same court.
Cassetica is represented in Federal Court by Julie Cohen Lonstein of Ellenville, N.Y.
