$3 Million Settlement|for Medicare Fraud

SANTA ANA, Calif. (CN) - Lynch Ambulance service, of Anaheim, paid $3 million to settle charges of Medicare fraud, prosecutors said Monday.

A federal judge on Friday unsealed a False Claims Act lawsuit against FILYN Corp. dba Lynch Ambulance. Lynch and two of its principals settled with the government for $3.05 million, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. They were accused of billing Medicare for services that were not medically necessary.

Two former Lynch Ambulance employees, Jamie Weatherly and Dawn Lucero, filed the whistleblower lawsuit and will get a cut of the recovery.

Lynch Ambulance did not have to admit that it did anything wrong.
