LOS ANGELES (CN) - Clarendon National Insurance Co. claims it has no obligation to pay $3 million that Colder Than Jersey Productions demands for Renee Zellweger's appearance, with Russell Crowe, in the boxing film, "Cinderella Man."
Crowe dislocated his shoulder in training for the film, delaying and complicating production. Clarendon says it paid Colder Than Jersey $5.6 million to settle that, with the final check marked, "Payment for Final Settlement," which it says CJTP accepted. Then, Clarendon says, Zellweger demanded an extra $3 million - $2 million for her extra work due to the extended shooting schedule, and $1 million from profit participation based on the box office. Clarendon claims the profit participation is excluded from coverage from Jump Street, and the $2 million claim is excluded because CJTP accepted the payment stemming from Crowe's injuries as its "final settlement." Clarendon is represented in Federal Court by Leon Gladstone with Berger Kahn. See complaint.
