$265,000 Dispute Over Baseball Cards

(CN) - Major League Baseball claims The Upper Deck Co. owes it more than $265,000 for baseball cards.

Major League Baseball Properties claims in Manhattan Federal Court that it made an agreement with Upper Deck in March 2010 to settle a dispute over the use of baseball names, trademarks and trade dress in Upper Deck's baseball cards.

Upper Deck agreed to pay Major League Baseball more than $3.065 million in several installments, according to the complaint.

Major League Baseball claims Upper Deck has made no payments since June 2010 and still owes it $265,824, plus interest. It claims that even when Upper Deck was making payments, $450,000 of it was late, under the settlement's repayment plan.

Major League Baseball seeks money owed plus interest, plus interest on the $450,000 that was paid late.

It is represented by Richard Mandel with Cowan Liebowitz & Latman of New York City.
