WASHINGTON (CN) - A federal judge sentenced Wesam Al-Delaema, the first Iraq war insurgent prosecuted in the United States, to 25 years in prison for conspiracy to commit murder, conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction and five other counts.
Delaema, who made video recordings mapping out his intent to murder U.S. soldiers out of Fallujah, will serve out his sentence in the Netherlands. Sentencing Judge Paul L. Friedman said he believes Delaema will not serve the entire sentence due to the more lenient European sentencing laws.
