2 Years for Bank Fraud

HOUSTON (CN) - A 39-year-old man who pleaded guilty to defrauding Capital One Bank was sentenced to two years in federal prison and ordered to pay $409,143 in restitution.

Anthony Norris, of Katy, pleaded on guilty Dec. 12, 2011, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a statement.

"Norris was owner and president of Kaufhaus Group Inc. through which he submitted loan applications to Capital One," prosecutors said.

Norris admitted he asked another person to prepare phony 2005 and 2006 tax returns for his company that falsely stated its income, and that he submitted the returns to Capital One for an increased loan amount, prosecutors said.

Capital One took a loss when the loan went into default, prosecutors said.
