15 Years for al Qaeda Supporter

MANHATTAN (CN) - A federal judge today sentenced Syed Hashmi to 15 years in prison for conspiring to provide material support to al Qaeda. Hashmi, 30, was arrested at London's Heathrow Airport on June 6, 2006 as he tried to board a flight to Pakistan.

Hashmi was extradited to the United States. He pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy on April 27 this year.
