1 Month In Prison For Each $100

SAN DIEGO (CN) - John Gordon Mastro was sentenced Friday to 70 months in prison for robbing two banks, from which he got $3,448 and $3,776 - less money than the paltry $4,400 the average bank robber gets. The FBI says that Friday is the most popular day to rob a bank, followed by Monday, and that 9-11 a.m. Friday is the most popular time slot for bank robbery.

Mastro robbed a Washington Mutual Bank on Monday, Aug. 20, 2007, and police nabbed him just after he robbed another WaMu branch two days later.

Southern California is the national center of bank robberies, as the numerous freeway exits make it convenient for robbers.
