$1 Billion Claim Says Power Company|Built Golf Course on a Toxic Dump

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (CN) - Dominion Virginia Power turned the Battlefield Golf Club at Centerville into a "toxic waste site masquerading as a golf course," more than 400 nearby residents say in a $1 billion claim in Chesapeake Circuit Court. Plaintiffs say the power company dumped more than 1.5 million tons of coal fly ash under the golf course, contaminating drinking water and exposing the community to disease.

The Chesapeake residents want the soil and water restored to safety, a new municipal water and sewer system, medical monitoring for life and money.

This complaint is 709 pages long. The plaintiffs are represented by Ted Yoakam.
