Westbrook Appointed to County Superior Court

(CN) - California Gov. Jerry Brown announced the appointment of Robert Westbrook to a judgeship in the Stanislaus County Superior Court.

Westbrook, 43, fills a vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John Whiteside.

The Democrat from Hughson earned his bachelor's degree from Yale University and his juris doctorate from the University of California, Davis School of Law. He worked at the Stanislaus County Public Defender's Office from 2000 to 2002, before serving as a deputy public defender at the San Joaquin County Public Defender's Office from 2002 to 2004.

He returned to the Stanislaus County Public Defender's Office where has served as a deputy public defender since 2004.

The compensation for this position is $178,789.
