SAN DIEGO (CN) - A San Diego car dealer on Thursday admitted he failed to report $719,000 in cash that a drug dealer paid him for a Ferrari, two Lamborghinis, a Porsche and other cars.
John Frank Mussari Jr., 48, faces up to 5 years in federal prison for conspiring to evade reporting requirements. He will be sentenced on Dec. 5.
Cash transactions of $10,000 or more must be reported.
Mussari agreed that he and the drug dealer, identified in the complaint only as J.B., conspired to duck the reporting requirements, the U.S. Attorney's Office said.
In admitting guilt Thursday, prosecutors said, Mussari admitted he took $132,000 in cash for a Ferrari, $115,000 for a Lamborghini, $205,000 for another Lamborghini, and $147,000 for a Porsche. He also took smaller bundles of cash from the dealer.
Mussari was arrested trying to leave in a Lamborghini as drug agents busted the dealer's home in Fallbrook, prosecutors said. They found $205,000 in the Lamborghini.
