Sports Agency Goes to War With Its Ex-VP

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (CN) - Disloyalty from its former vice president cost National Sports Agency the services of a standout player for the Super Bowl Champion Baltimore Ravens, the agency claims in court.

National Sports Agency sued Marc Lillibridge, in St. Charles County Court.

Lillibridge was its vice president from 2009-2012.

National Sports Agency claims Lillibridge's improper recruitment of Paul Kruger, an outside linebacker for the Ravens, led Kruger to seek representation elsewhere.

It claims that Lillibridge, while working as its vice president and as a certified contract adviser, improperly recruited its clients to his new agency - Pro Football Syndicate.

It claims Lillibridge went to San Diego, Green Bay, Kansas City, Tampa, Chicago and Baltimore on improper recruiting trips in November and December 2012.

Lillibridge is the only defendant.

"Defendant Lillibridge improperly solicited an existing client of plaintiff NSA - Paul Kruger, an outside linebacker for the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens - to join him at defendant Lillibridge's new agency," the complaint states.

"As a result of the improper solicitation, Mr. Kruger became concerned about his ongoing business relationship with plaintiff NSA, and ultimately signed with a different agent.

"Mr. Kruger is set to become a free agent in the near future and seeks to gain a contract worth at least $50,000,000, which would amount to a commission of $1,500,000 to the agency that represents him.

"Defendant Lillibridge abruptly resigned his employment with plaintiff NSA on the day before Christmas - December 24, 2012 - when he left to start a competing sports agency - Pro Football Syndicate LLC."

National Sports Agency seeks actual damages and $500,000 in punitive damages for breach of duty of loyalty, breach of fiduciary duty and breach of contract.

It is represented by Brian E. McGovern, with McCarthy, Leonard & Kaemmerer, in Chesterfield, Mo.
