‘Sexual Harassment Is Nurtured Here’

(CN) - A secretary says her boss told her, "Sexual Harassment is nurtured here," after she complained about the company president's sexual harassment. Innomark Communications retaliated for her complaint about its president, and her manager told her, "I can't protect you," constructively firing her, she says.

In her complaint in Cincinnati Federal Court, Lisa Brazie says Innomark president Gary Boens made a pass her during a company-run trade show.

"Regrettably, during the first evening of the trade show, president Boens made unwanted sexual advances on Ms. Brazie, which she rejected," according to the complaint.

The next day she says, Boens, referring to himself in the third person, told her, "Gary was a baddy boy."

Brazie says she complained to logistics manager Mike Maratea, who responded, "Sexual harassment is nurtured here."

After complaining of sexual harassment to the Ohio Civil Rights Commission, Brazie says, the company retaliated by taking away her responsibilities, taking away her computer equipment, barring her from a building, and other harassment, constructively firing her.She seeks punitive damages for sexual harassment, retaliation and emotional distress. She is represented by Stephen Simon with Tobias, Kraus & Tobias
