School Bus Driver Gets |25 Years for Child Porn

NORFOLK (CN) - A former Chesapeake, Va., school bus driver was sentenced to 25 years in prison for producing child pornography.

Larry Carl Homan, 71, was sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge Robert Doumar, who tacked on an additional penalty of lifetime supervised release should the one-time bus driver ever be paroled.

Chesapeake authorities said they began investigating Homan in May, 2015. after a parent complained to local elementary school officials that the driver had tickled her daughter on the bus.

School investigators reviewed 30 days of surveillance video from Homan's bus and suspended him without pay after they discovered Homan molesting three children, ages 4, 5, and 7, according to court documents.

Chesapeake police then searched Homan's Norfolk apartment and on June 25, 2015, uncovered several pieces of electronic media that contained about 100 explicit photos of prepubescent girls, the documents say.

After reviewing the photos, investigators determined that some of the photos were taken inside Homan's apartment.

Three of the girls were identified at ages of 8, 9, and 10.

Law enforcement officials believe Homan molested at least seven children, court documents say.

In final statements before sentencing, prosecutors asked that Homan receive the maximum sentence of 30 years since he had abused a position of trust.

But Homan's public defender, Keith Kimball, requested a lesser sentence due to his client's poor health, stating that it would only burden the taxpayers to support the former bus driver's deteriorating health and waste limited prison health services.
