Scalpers Clean Up At Oscars

LOS ANGELES (CN) - In an annual rite, the Academy of Motion Pictures claims scalpers illegally sold over the Internet high-priced tickets to the Oscars. Red Baron Records allegedly offered four tickets at $85,000 apiece, and Millionaire Concierge, an online ticket broker, allegedly tried to sell two tickets for $38,000 each.

The Academy claims that both those companies sold tickets to unknown buyers. In addition to charging unfair prices, the Academy claims that these scalpers and others create a security problem, as the purchasers could threaten the safety of celebrities.
