Sandefur Wins in Montana Supreme Court Race

HELENA, Mont. (CN) — Last-minute campaign ads appeared to have made the difference for state court Judge Dirk Sandefur in his bid for a Montana Supreme Court seat, who received 56 percent of the vote to defeat adjunct law professor Kristen Juras.

Sandefur's victory flew in the face of a poll two weeks earlier which had the candidates tied at 30 percent with 40 percent of voters still undecided, possibly due to the fact that Montana's judicial races are nonpartisan.
