Mother Calls Mortuary’s Act ‘Horrendous’

MIAMI (CN) - A mother claims that a funeral parlor posted on the Internet "graphic and horrendous" photos of her late son before his body was "properly prepared." The mother's attorney said in an interview, "Only the insurance company and the mortuary know who took the pictures and why."

Alethea Howard sued Hall Ferguson Hewitt Mortuary for negligence in Miami-Dade County Court.

When asked why the pictures were taken, Howard's attorney, Richard Perlini, said, "Sickness or personal revenge or some sadistic quality? I don't really know the inner workings of that person's mind.

"At this time," Perlini added, "only the insurance company and the mortuary know who took the pictures and why."

More information will be available after the Bill of Discovery goes through, Perlini said.

Perlini said Howard discovered the pictures were on the Internet because they were sent to her via email. Her neighbors also saw them and commented about them to Howard.
