(CN) - South Carolina election officials on Thursday extended the deadline to register to vote in the November election due to Hurricane Matthew.
Applications postmarked by Tuesday, Oct. 11 will now be accepted, the South Carolina Election Commission said in a written release.
The state's deadline to register to vote by mail had been set for Saturday, October 8.
Online, email or fax applications are due by midnight, October 9. Due to Hurricane Matthew, some county voter registration offices are closed through Saturday.
