Guest Claims Wynn Promoter Raped Her

LAS VEGAS (CN) - A promoter for Wynn Resorts nightclubs raped a hotel guest after buying her drinks and locking her husband in a car, the couple claim in court.

Josee Moreau and her husband Martin Gauthier sued Wynn Las Vegas and affiliates on Friday in Clark County Court.

They claim that on a June 21, 2103 visit to Wynn Resorts, club promoter Jeremy Redding invited them to the hotel's Surrender nightclub for a drink.

After two drinks and two shots of vodka, Moreau felt ill and went to the nightclub bathroom. After her last drink, she says in the lawsuit, she "does not recall anything else until she remembers waking up and seeing defendant Jeremy Redding raping her inside her hotel room at the Wynn Las Vegas."

Before he raped her, Moreau says, "Redding locked Mr. Gauthier in a vehicle so that he could attack Mr. Gauthier's wife."

The complaint continues: "Immediately upon regaining consciousness, Ms. Moreau realized the man on top of her was not her husband."

She says she ran out of the room and down the hall, "frightened for her life and safety."

She says that "during the rape," an alarm indicated that her hotel room door had been open for more than an hour, and a hotel security officer looked in and saw Redding with an "erect penis" and Moreau "lying unconsciously on the bed."

She says she awoke and ran from the room and the security officer saw Redding "forcefully grabbing" her arm to get her back in the room, that she was "crying and visibly upset" and told the security guard that Redding had attacked her.

All the security guard did was tell Redding he had to leave, Moreau says. Redding put his pants on and left and Moreau told the security guard she had been raped and was calling the police, according to the complaint.

A hospital treated her for injuries consistent with sexual assault and she continues to suffer from post traumatic stress and anxiety disorder, nightmares and flashbacks, Moreau says.

Redding was charged that day with two felony counts of sexual assault and two felony counts of sexually motivated coercion.

He pleaded guilty to sexually motivated coercion, which will be reduced to a gross misdemeanor, not sexually motivated, if he completes an indeterminate period of probation, according to his plea agreement.

Redding is listed as a convicted sex offender on the Nevada Sex Offender Registry, checked Monday morning.

Moreau and her husband seek punitive damages for negligence, negligent hiring, training and supervision, emotional distress, assault and battery and false imprisonment.

Moreau's attorney, Cal J. Potter III and officials for Wynn Resorts were not immediately available for comment.

Defendants include Encore LLC, a Wynn Las Vegas dba that runs the Surrender nightclub.
