Exotic Dancer Nairobi Says Comedian Defamed Her

ATLANTA (CN) - An exotic dancer says a comedian defamed her by accusing her of being a man. Tina Thompson, pka Nairobi, claims that since "Shawty the Comedian" accused her in a Twitter message of being a man, she "has received threats of bodily harm and has lost nearly all of her clientele and income."

Thompson says she's worked at Pleasers Adult Entertainment since May 2009. She says she "flourished in her occupation" and hoped to "establish ... herself as a premier adult entertainer in Georgia."

But she says her regular clientele of nearly 50 men suddenly and drastically declined, and she wondered why.

She says colleagues told her that the comedian had posted a message on his personal Twitter page, claiming that "plaintiff is in fact a man." She claims the comedian, aka Shawty Shawty and Shawty Champagne, has 2,500 followers of his Twitter page.

According to her complaint in Fulton County Superior Court, since the defamatory Twitter, customers "have grabbed plaintiff by the neck to check for the presence of a protruding Adam's apple or have grabbed her bottom to check for male genitalia."

Thompson seeks damages for defamation, emotional distress, tortious interference with business relations, and false light.

She is represented by Talia J. Nurse.
