(CN) - Michael Jackson's doctor, Conrad Murray, will serve the maximum sentence of four years in Los Angeles County jail, a judge ruled Tuesday, rejecting a bid for probation.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael Pastor cited California's Criminal Justice Realignment Act, which prohibits sentences for certain felonies from being served in state prison.
Murray, who was convicted of involuntary manslaughter, has "absolutely no sense of remorse" and "remains a danger to society," Pastor said.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Office spokesman Steve Whitmore told CNN that automatic credit for good behavior would reduce Murray's time in jail to two years.
