Nick Cahill

Nick Cahill is a political and environmental reporter based in Sacramento. Since 2015 he's covered the California Legislature, various state agencies as well as Sacramento County Superior Court and the Eastern District of California for Courthouse News. Outside the daily political grind, Cahill regularly produces news features including a story about how politicians and interest groups have turned California's direct democracy system into a pay-to-play scheme. He also keeps close tabs on the state's never-ending water wars and often ends up driving (or boating) to uncover stories in the largest estuary on the west coast of North America. Cahill also profiles each newly elected presiding judge of Sacramento Superior Court. The Sacramento native doubles as a sports journalist, covering high school athletics across the Golden State. On the weekends, the husband and father loves to get outdoors and play disc golf, not to mention find new breweries. Cahill also perpetually struggles to keep his Beagle, Penny, out of the kitchen!
