Diddy Sues Landlord Over Scaffolding

NEW YORK (CN) - The company that runs Sean "P Diddy" Combs' clothing line says its landlord cost it at least $5 million in lost revenues by erecting sidewalk scaffolding around the 5th Avenue building in Manhattan three years ago and never taking it down.
Christian Casey started leasing part of the ground floor of 475 Fifth in 2003 to run its "Sean John" flagship store across from Bryant Park.
But the clothing company says the building's landlord, listed in court papers as 475 Fifth 09 LLC, erected sidewalk scaffolding in August 2006 and just left it there, burying the once-prime commercial property behind scaffolding and preventing customers from seeing it.
"Since the erection of the scaffolding, the Sean John Store has experienced a steady decline in revenues that continues to the present day," according to the lawsuit filed in Supreme Court. "Revenues have been cut approximately in half at the flagship store."
Christian Casey wants the lease rescinded for alleged breach of contract.
