Dog Therapist Sues Snoopy Neighbors

SANTA MONICA (CN) - A woman who provides swimming therapy for dogs in her backyard pool claims her neighbors are invading her privacy by videotaping her in her home, at work and at rest, because they vowed to close down her "Canine Aquatics" business.
Stephanie Schatz says she applied for and received special-use permits from Culver City in early 2003, and built a 4-foot-deep swimming pool with a sloped entry so she could run her backyard business, which she has done since then. She claims her neighbors told her they would "do everything in their power to stop (her) from operating her business."
She claims the defendants installed a video camera in their upstairs bathroom window and have videotaped her for four years, with clients and without them, violating her privacy and willfully inflicting emotional distress. She demands punitive damages in Superior Court. She is represented by Robert Newman of Santa Ana.
